About the farm

Little Fields Farm is a diverse small-scale ecological farm growing vegetables, cut flowers, pasture-raised chicken, turkey, pork, and eggs using regenerative farming practices. We’re located in Bright, Ontario on the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinabek, and Attawandaron peoples. We aim to produce good food in a way that works with the natural environment and the natural instincts of the animals we raise, and to keep the power and knowledge of sustainable food production in the hands of local communities. We sell our produce, flowers, meat, and eggs through our CSA farm share program and through our online store, with pickups in London, Kitchener-Waterloo, and on the farm.

About the Farmers

FARMER CLAIRE

Claire founded Little Fields Farm in 2015 after spending several years as an intern on organic farms in Ontario and British Columbia. As a first-generation farmer, Claire’s passion for environmental sustainability, love of the outdoors, and love of food drew her to farming. Claire is an active member of the NFU (National Farmer’s Union) and is currently serving a two-year term as Women’s Advisor on the NFU-Ontario board of directors. She has a degree in Environment and Global Development Studies from Queen’s University.

FARMER ADAM

The grandson of dairy farmers, Adam developed a deep affinity for farming from an early age. Adam helped to lead the Working Centre Market Garden in Kitchener for over 10 years, helping to build a beautiful and vibrant community space that grew skills, knowledge, and connection through regenerative food production. He’s passionate about community-based small-scale ecological farming and recently completed a Master’s Degree studying agroecology at the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Since moving to Little Fields in 2021 he has become an integral part of the team!

BOWIE

Bowie is head of the farm’s welcoming committee and our constant companion in the garden. She enjoys lounging in the shade, chasing away birds and rodents, and munching the occasional discarded vegetable.

WHAT WE PRODUCE

VEGETABLES

We grow a wide variety of mixed vegetables using low-till regenerative farming practices. We aim to grow food with a low-carbon footprint in a way that nurtures biodiversity and enriches the soil. Our vegetables are available through our CSA program.

EGGS

Our hens are raised on pasture and fed all certified organic feed. Their diet, rich in foraged greens and insects, makes for delicious and nutrient-dense eggs. Eggs are $7.5/dozen or $7/dozen for orders of 10 dozen or more. You can purchase our eggs through our online store, or sign up for an egg share through our CSA for a guaranteed weekly supply.

PASTURED TURKEY

We raise a smaller breed of turkey that is well-suited to living on pasture and foraging for greens and insects. We feed our turkeys a high-protein non-GMO grain mix to ensure that they are strong and healthy and have the highest quality of life.

Fresh whole turkeys are available to pick up on the farm Thanksgiving weekend. The turkeys range in size between 10-20 lbs and we do our best to accommodate specific requests. Contact us to order!

PASTURED CHICKEN

Our chickens are raised on pasture and fed certified organic grains. They spend their days foraging for greens and bugs, relaxing in the shade, and cleaning off in dust baths. Their rich diet and healthy life makes for excellent quality meat!

You can purchase our chicken through our online store or sign up for a chicken share through our CSA for a guaranteed monthly supply.

PASTURED PORK

We raise heritage breeds known for producing rich and flavourful meat. We raise our pigs on a large area of pasture and they spend their days rooting up grass, wallowing in the mud, and relaxing in the shade. They're fed a diet of non-GMO grains to meet their protein needs supplemented with forages, garden scraps, fallen apples and cracked eggs.

You can purchase cuts of pork through our online store, or sign up for a pork share through our CSA for a monthly supply of mixed cuts.

FLOWERS

We grow a variety of cut flowers using sustainable farming practices. Local flowers aren’t only beautiful, they also help to provide food and habitat for birds, butterflies, pollinators, and other beneficial insects.

You can purchase our bouquets in season through our online store, or sign up for a flower share through our CSA to take home a weekly or bi-weekly bouquet from July-September.
